I am going to try to grow a few things this spring. I have never been successful at gardening. I definitely do not have a green thumb. But the dollar store had these hanging planters on sale, so I thought I would give it a whirl....we'll see what happens.

I finally got the grandbabies Easter gifts ready to mail. I made them both a little stuffed rabbit. I always like to make a homemade gift...gifts from the heart are the best even if they aren't all that great. But I ran across these little patterns a month ago, and of course I waited until the last minute to make them. I really need to quit procrastinating and git er done!

I sure wish that I could see them in their new little Easter frocks and watch them hunt eggs, but I can't so I just hope that they have a great Easter!!

Job Complete

We finally got to the lake this afternoon and FINISHED the floor tiles. It was really a chore because where the carpet meets the tile is at an angle, so we had to make lots of cuts. But it is good to be finished with it. I will try to remember to take some pics next time I go over there.

Went went to Church today for the Palm Sunday service. It was so nice. The children all did a wonderful job. It sure made me sad that I can't watch my sweet little grandchildren in their Church activities. Distant grandparenting doesn't feel much like grandparenting. We also sang my mothers' favorite hymn today and that made me sad too. Oh well, chin up, life goes on......

A Constant Project

The lake house is a constant project....always something to do. We had some water damage in the kitchen over the winter and had to tear out the wall and floor. The cabinet had previous damage, so the water this winter totally destroyed it. So after we got the plumbing all repaired Gene had to replace the walls and floor. We also had to have a new hot water heater because the other one rusted. So, we put in a new cabinet and counter top today and painted the new wall. We have started on the new flooring (peel and stick). But, I am afraid that I didn't get the first piece in just right and the lines may be off...but ole well, it will be clean and new. I have just always had trouble working with lines. It isn't as bad as it looks in this picture because we wanted to lay the new tiles on the seams of the older ones...well, I will just have to see how it turns out.

Sad Day

Today was just a very sad, sad, disappointing day in Clay Co.

We have a new RV!

I am so excited! We are going camping again, hopefully. I guess we really can't call it an RV, since it isn't a vehicle, but here it is.............
Notice the new style of tent door. It is a half moon and it is hinged and rigid and you can open it like a normal door....no zipping to get in and out. Having to zip and unzip the door on our previous tents was always a pain. I wish Aaron was here, he would like the new tent.

Last Sunday, during the UK ballgame Gene went out to get something out of the truck and discovered this:
So, he insisted on changing it in the rain. He put the spare on and drove it until Wednesday when we took it and had all new tires put on.
We have been to the funeral home again. That is 4 or 5 in the last 10 days. It is very sad.
I had a meeting with the retirement people today, it did not go well. I was really hoping to be able to buy up some retirement, but no deal. I need to work 4 1/2 more years....doubt I'll make it.

What a great day!

The weather today was absolutely beautiful. I cleaned some windows outside and cleaned the porch furniture. It looks so much better. The dreary winter is over, I officially declare it! We cooked out on the grill so that made it officially the end of winter. I even washed my car today.

Of course, with the end of winter will come spring allergies. But this year I am going to try some home remedies. Anyone who knows me knows how much I suffer from sinus headaches. They totally put me down about one day a week. So, I searched the internet and found two new things to try. First, I am going to eat local honey everyday. It just so happens that a friend of ours from the next county came by with some of his Jackson Co. honey. Close enough. So, I started today with a honey biscuit. Then, I found a sinus remedy that calls for Apple Cider vinegar dissolved in water twice a day. So, I happened to have some in the cabinet and mixed us both up a cup. Now, I can't swear that it worked, but Gene was feeling really bad this morning and felt better after drinking it, and I have felt good today; so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it helped!

I am loving my new Blackberry! It is so great to be able to listen to my Sirius radio on it. I just clip it on my belt and listen until my hearts content. It makes it so much easier to work around the house and out in the yard.

Scary Moment

Sunday I decided to go and visit with mother and dad. I got there about 4:00 pm. I did the usual cleaning and stuff that I always do when I go over there. I took Monday off and took them to Harlan to eat lunch and shop a little. While we were eating, Daddy's left hand started drawing up. I tried to stay calm and just get them out of the restaurant. His hand finally opened back up after we rubbed and rubbed it, but I was still worried, so after we left the restaurant, I headed for his doctors office. I didn't tell him that I was taking him to the dr. until we pulled into the parking lot. He refused to get out of the car, so I went in and got his Dr. and he came out to the car and did a stroke analysis on daddy. The doctor didn't find anything wrong with him, but didn't really know what caused his hand to draw up.

I had a good visit with Drew and Lindsay this weekend. They got me the new Nicholas Sparks book for my birthday. I love his books! His writing has that "take me away" feeling....so good and much needed!

Yea! Spring is finally creeping in...we are supposed to get in the 60's this weekend! Time to start getting my tan on :)
