The Chex Mix is in the Oven!

Chex mix in the oven can only mean one thing............camping! We always take a huge container of chex mix to snack on when we go camping. So, tonight was the night to make it! My kids always hated it when I made chex mix, because they didn't like the way it smelled when I was cooking it. But we love it, and once we start eating it, we don't stop until it is gone. So, the chex mix seldom makes it to our campsite with us! But, we just can't go camping without it....as they said in "Fiddler on the Roof".........."Tradition"

I am getting excited about out trip and wondering what we are going to forget to take. We usuallly have a camper that is fully stocked, all we have to do it connect and go; but tent camping requires a little more planning.

I just talked to Aaron and Sarah. They called to thank me for the toys that I mailed to them. They are very sweet and I am glad that they are being raised to say "thank you". It is good to hear the excitement in their voices.

Close to my Heart

Today I bought a heart-shaped locket necklace to hold pictures of my grandchildren. Even if I can't see them very often, I can always keep them close to my heart. This picture isn't very good and the locket and chain is actually silver...I'm not very good with the settings on my camera.

Happy Birthday Trevor

We got Trevor this sand box for his birthday. He and Trenton Paul were making sand castles.

Paige is supervising the sand castle building, while Forester watches from the trampoline.

Paula Jo and her sweet little 3 year old.

A happy birthday hug from my sweet little great nephew.

Trenton Paul was jumping it up with Forester and Paige

It was a great party. I left with a great jar of homemade pickles and the boys picked me some flowers!

Celebrations

Seems like April is a month for celebrations. I have gotten several shower invitations. Luckily everything that I ordered has been delivered. Most of the showers/parties are next weekend, so I can't go to them all. Fortunately, the local stores deliver. I had planned on attending one shower for a good friends sons' baby, but I will probably have to go to the parents for a few days because their caregiver has a doctor appointment.

Trevors birthday is next week and his party is Sunday. He loves being outside, so I got him this:

His mom helped me pick it out, so he should like it. These kids are growing up so fast.

Gene is at the lake catching all the fish.......yeah, right! The blue gill aren't biting yet.

I had a visit with my daughter-in-law today. She made a quick trip to attend a wake for a good friend of her family. It was good to see her. I will be glad when Drew gets out of school...I see much fishing in our future.

I had to break down and turn on the AC at the house...it was just getting too hot. As much as we have to pay for electricity now, I dread to see the bills.

I am praying for a good friend of mine that lost her brother last week. Life is really tough sometimes....

Me vs. Fat

Wow, I didn't realize it has been so long since I have updated my blog! I am getting lazy I guess, or maybe I have always been lazy! Lazy and fat. Repeat after me: "Nothing taste as good as being thin feels" I repeat this when I start to get really hungry and usually it helps me, but lately I stay so hungry, I can't figure it out! The older you get the harder it is to keep the weight off....I can look at food and gain weight. To loose weight I have to eat less than 500 calories a day and then my hair starts to fall out, and I don't have that much to loose. Exercise makes me feel better, but it sure doesn't make me loose any weight! I wish that I could eat all that I want to and not worry about it. After all, I am on the down side of 50 so what difference could it possibly make. Is it better to die thin or happy?

I took Tuesday as my day off this week and I got a lot accomplished. I got out the summer clothes, cleaned the house, washed clothes, rode my bike, walked 3 miles at the park, laid in the tanning bed and got some stuff ready for our camping trip.

I love this nice warm weather, but if we don't get more rain this summer the lake will get too low and we will have to pull our boat out of the water. It isn't looking good, the lake level is dropping rapidly. Oh well, we can get back to camping in the state parks. But I doubt seriously if we can camp this summer in a tent, so if the water gets low we may just be in the market for a pop-up with an AC. So, either way it is no big disaster. I love to camp!

I made the trip to Benham last weekend to check on the folks. We went shopping and out to eat. Then we went to the Walmart so that I could buy a small fridge for my Aunt that is in the nursing home. She drinks cokes all day and wanted a fridge in her room. So, I got her fixed up and she seemed happy.....well, as happy as you can get in a nursing home. Daddy is so confused and getting worse all the time. It hurts so much when I hear him ask someone who I am. It always brings tears to my eyes. Mother isn't too far behind him. They both want to go to their childhood homes every night. So sad...but things could be much worse.

The pollen is awful here now. My blue car looks green. When I came back from the walking park I had to wash the pollen out of my mouth. I could actually taste it. I sure hope that I don't wake up with a headache tomorrow. Hopefully, everything will soon bloom out and settle down.

Well, that's about all I have for now..............
