Sometimes Life is Just Tough

Well, daddy has been in the hospital, in really bad shape for a week. He recovered from two of his problems, renal failure and heart failure, but he still has a touch of the pneumonia. He can only walk with two people holding him and can only eat pureed food. He has been having a hard time chewing and swallowing; they don't know if it is the Alzheimers or what, but this common in Alzheimers patients. He left the hospital and we took him to the local nursing home. It was the only option since he must have constant medical attention and his oxygen monitored around the clock. We decided to go ahead and place Mother with him because she was so upset that he was away from her and sick. So, long story short, here they are:

We decorated their room, scooted the beds together, bought them some comfortable chairs and a new tv. I was worried about mothers reaction to being in "the home", but thankfully so far she likes it. She likes to sit and watch all the people go by their room, and likes the food and the staff (they are so sweet to them)...so far, so good....just hope it continues. I think she likes the activity. Physically she is in much better shape than most of the residents.

When I got to the nursing home this morning, I looked down and noticed that I had a Christmas bow stuck on the ice on the front of my car and had driven all the way there decorated!! I must have pulled into the garage too far and parked up against the bow and the water on my bumper froze and the bow stuck to it. I am glad that it was so early in the morning that a lot of people weren't out to see my decorated car!!

Needless to say I am physically, mentally and emotionally drained..............................

Just Pretty

I am sick of snow, but this morning it was so cold and the sun was hitting the ice crystals on top of the snow and it looked so pretty that I just had to take a picture.

Lesson Learned

I have been working on this little pillow off and on for the past several months. This is a project that I kept in the trunk of my car, so I just worked on it when I was in Benham. Well, I am in Benham now and I got it out of the trunk to bring in the house and this is what it looked like:
Apparently it is not a good idea to carry something in a walmart bag. When I opened the trunk the snow must have dripped down onto the bag and the blue from the bag faded all over my stitchery. I was making a pillow for the lake shack and only lacked the two borders and I would have been finished. I may finish it and see if I can wash it out or use an Clorox stick to fade it out....oh well, lesson learned.....don't store things in blue walmart bags!

So Long to 2010

Well, Christmas is over, the decorations are put away for another year and we are back to our couch potato life. Mom and Dad are getting worse everyday. It kills me to see them so lost and confused all the time. Fortunately, they are oblivious to their condition...they think that they are fine, everyone else is just confused. Daddy is having a lot more trouble walking and if he is tired he really can't walk at all...he falls a lot and I just fall with him and let him land on me, because there is no way I can hold him up...dead weight is just too heavy. One of these days I am going to be the one with a broken bone. After taking care of them for a few days I am sore from head to toe.

It was great to have the kids and grandkids home. I didn't get any pictures of the Christmas activities....I don't know how I managed that....but anyway....
Our sweet Sarah had her birthday on Christmas Eve. Her parents have decided to always have a theme party to separate her party from the Christmas activities. This year it was Italian, last year it was Mexican. Robert fixed a huge Italian meal and it was wonderful. He also baked her a strawberry cake with strawberry icing, since pink is her favorite color and we had cupcakes too! She wouldn't put her clothes on for her party.
It was so sweet when we were all singing to her she seemed to like it at first and then all of a sudden she teared up and started crying. She is our sweet doll baby! We love her so much!
