Memorial Day

On Memorial Day in years past I would take daddy across Black Mountain into eastern Tennessee to decorate the graves of his family.  He loved the trip and looked forward to it every year.  This is the first year that I made the journey to his beloved mountains to decorate his grave.  He has a beautiful huge tree near his grave and from his grave you can see the beautiful mountains of Kentucky.  He loved the wonderful people of Kentucky, a place where neighbors go out of their way to help each other and truly care about others.   To daddy  Kentucky was the most beautiful, caring place on the face of the earth.  It always hurt him when people and especially family members put down Kentucky and its people.  There is good and bad everywhere, but I would agree with Daddy...there is a lot more good about Kentucky than there is bad!   Daddy was a wise man!

Congrats to Drew!

Sarah is all excited to see Uncle Drew graduate!

Daddy would have loved to have been there with the rest of the family.  Gene, Carvel, Paige, Tammy and Chuck!

She is crazy about her Uncle Drew!

So proud of my children!

Chuck flew up for the festivities.  He and Drew ran in the Flying Pig 10K the day before graduation!

Lawyers!

Cousins!  Daddy would love this!
Drew and Lindsay!  As the wife of a former law school student, I can tell you it takes great sacrifice to be the student and the spouse of the student.

Yesterday was Daddy's birthday.  It was a tough day for me.  I miss him so much.
