Kids are so creative.

I was scrubbing the floor and Aaron was playing in the family room. Aaron started hollering "Mimi, a waterfall" and the first thing that popped into my mind was a pipe leak (particularly given our luck with such things). So, I looked in the family room and he had made a "waterfalls" out of the empty wrapping paper cardboard. Needless to say I had to quit scrubbing and play "waterfall" with 3 little balls. It was great fun, and he did it all by himself.

Kids are just fun, fun, fun

Poppy and Aaron enjoyed playing in the first snow of the season. They built a great snowman and hit Mimi with a few snowballs.

The Joke's on Me

Well, remember last Sunday when I went to the nursing home to decorate a tree for my aunt and left so upset because she kept talking about how she had danced with Elvis and he even gave her a kiss. I was sad all the way home thinking about how disoriented she was.....well the joke was on me!

Dora and Diego

It was a beautiful day today, so Aaron and I spent most of it outside playing. We had a lot of adventures. I had to call him "go Diego go" and he called me "Dora" Our adventure took us into the wilds of the jungle (otherwise know as the woods around the house) where we got lost (in our imaginary world) and we had to call Santa Claus to rescue us..(Aaron's choice again) We also ventured into a mysterious cave (his description of the 4 wheeler trail) that was dark and full of spiders. Once again we had to have Santa Claus come to the rescue. We ventured far and wide and it took days and days. Our adventure had to come to an end however, when we were trying to dam up the waterfall (the spring of water coming down the mountain in the switchback) and go Diego go decided to go wading and got his feet wet from the ankles to toes. It was time for a snack anyway :)

And while we were having our snack, Aaron got a call from none other than Santa Claus. He was excited and talked to Santa on the phone (It was a recorded message, that called him by name) So, this recording was telling him to be good a good boy and get to bed early on Christmas Eve and Aaron listened intently for a while and then said "Santa Claus, I am having a snack and playing a computer game, so bye" It was so cute.

We have had a very special grandmother/grandson day. Sorry I didn't take my camera on todays expedition...my bad.

Picnics are making me fat!

Aaron and I have a picnic everyday. I fix many things that I think that he might like to eat...AND I EAT THE LEFTOVERS! This has got to stop.

Yesterday his Advent gift was a big marshmallow sucker!

Usually I bring him home a kid's meal of chicken nuggets for lunch everyday, but I am off today so I just deep fried him some chicken nuggets. I apparently got them browner than the ones that we get thru the window, and he said "These chicken nuggets are dirty". He says the funniest things!

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells

Aaron got all excited when we were putting up the Christmas tree and would just start singing Jingle Bells and jumping around. He was a lot of help decorating!
He wanted to open presents, so we just put his Advent Gifts under the tree!
His Advent present for Day 1 was a wooden train. He really liked it.

His day 2 Advent gift was a monkey clacker. He didn't seem to like it as much as he did the train.

It is amazing to watch him play games on the computer. He is better at it than most adults that I know. He has totally taken over my netbook.

We enjoy having him with us and he is having a good time, but he misses Mama, Dada and Sarah and his room.

Mimi can you say "Bed Head"

This is how Aaron looked when he woke up this morning.............too cute!

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. Everybody was healthy and happy and arrived safely at our house. The food all turned out pretty good and we enjoyed being together.

Aaron didn't eat much, he was too busy playing.

Sarah likes to eat and play. We have her pants rolled up so that she doesn't trip chasing after her brother. Chasing him keeps her pretty busy these days. She looks so sweet walking around, she just looks so little to be walking so good.
Mother and daddy sure enjoyed being around all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren

Aaron is outgrowing his ride on toys that we keep here for him, but Sarah is able to ride them when her brother will let her!

Sarah wasn't sure she liked the Green Bean Casserole

But she does like dessert!

Mother is eating really good these days. We are trying to fatten her up!

Drew just recovering from the food!

Getting ready for babies!

I am trying to get the house ready for all my family to come in for Thanksgiving. Sarah has some allergy problems, so I have dusted everything, shampooed carpet, washed drapes, put in new high allergy control filters and tried my best to get all of the dust out. Today I went out to the garage and got the booster seat/high chair and cleaned and disinfected it real good.

I am very anxious to see them. I think that Aaron will remember Mimi's house, but I am sure that Sarah has no memory of ever being here. I wish that they didn't have to make such a long, long and boring (I'm sorry but endless cornfields and the whole Hoosier state are unreal boring) trip. I am just glad that we can break the trip up by stopping to see Drew and Lindsay.

I also got all of the Advent gifts ready! I am so excited! Woohoo!

Getting Better

I think that I am on the mend. I have felt better this afternoon. I even started to go back to work at noon, but then I remembered how badly I have felt this week, and decided to not to risk giving it to anyone else. I am still not sure what I had, but I do know that my nose started really running last week after I used some Vicks Vapospray. I thought that was just the way to clear sinus pressure, which is a good thing! So, I used it again this week, just before I got sick again. And I just got sicker. Then this morning I saw that it had been recalled for bacterial contamination. Now, I don't know for a fact that was what caused me to be so sick, but you never know. But, thankfully, I will be fine for the holidays. I am sure looking forward to seeing the kids. And, who wouldn't want to see this smiling face!

A special THANKS to a special son-in-law for the sweet pictures!

Getting Ready for Advent!

We have always observed the Advent Season in our house. This year I wanted to fix an Advent Calendar for the grandkids. I looked around for some good Advent calendars, but couldn't find anything that I liked (most just had little pieces of hard candy), so I just decided to make my own. For this project I needed construction paper, cookie cutters, markers, glue stick, ribbon and of course GIFTS! I have been picking up little gifts for the last couple of weeks...little cars, trains, books, puppets, etc.
First I traced the outline of the Christmas cookie cutters on the construction paper and cut them out and decorated them. Then I wanted to find a small coloring book with the story of the birth of Christ, but I couldn't find a small one, so I searched the internet and found just what I needed. I printed the story pages off, and made each paper into a little booklet/gift tag. So, I ended up with an assortment of ornament looking tags for the first half of Advent and the Story tags for the last half. I then just tied these to the wrapped gifts that I had bought and now they are ready to be opened on their appropriate day. This was a little time consuming, but I enjoyed doing it.

This picture didn't turn out very good. But you get the idea. When I printed off this Christmas story, the pictures did not print dark enough so I had to go over all the details in the pictures with a black pen.

I sure hope that they have a good time opening their Advent gifts.

Say It Ain't So!

I either have the flu or a bad bad allergy attack. I did not work today and doubt that I will be able to tomorrow. Whatever this is IT SUCKS BIG TIME! I will not be sick for Thanksgiving...I refuse to accept it! So There!

Today was special!

Today I got to watch Sarah walk...on the webcam of course. But it was so sweet to see her walk across the kitchen. She wasn't wobbly at all, which surprised me. I didn't get to watch her walk very long because Aaron doesn't like to share his webcam time. I probably spent an hour talking to him on the webcam. I read about 10 books to him It is hard to read a book while trying to hold it up to the webcam so he can see the pictures, so I ended up making up a lot of it. But I enjoy it and I enjoy watching the look on his little face while he listens to me read and looks at the pictures.

Today was spent washing curtains and cleaning windows...a job that I hate. I also had to make a trip to the Walmart to get furniture movers so that we could move the old, very heavy tv cabinet out. Those movers are amazing. This particular piece of furniture would have probably taken 3 strong men to move, but we put it on the movers and just slid it out. Such a simple invention, but so helpful. We put the old cabinet in the guest wing, so I had to crawl under the house and reconnect the tv cable....fortunately I didn't run into any animals.

Well, it certainly was not a good football day. To start with I didn't get the UT/Ole Miss game on my tv because they were broadcasting the UK/Vandy game. So, I had to watch UT on a streaming link on the internet. It was painful to watch....not because of having to watch it on the computer, just watching them loose a game they should have been able to win. But, at least UK won, but then my second favorite team...South Carolina(gotta love the old ball coach) lost to my least favorite team.....the GATORS....BOO. Oh well, that's the way it goes in the world of football. Now, on to the Alabama/Miss St. game.....I love football season!

Hm, now I know

My husband has always been of the opinion to not replace something that isn't totally torn up. Whether it is a car or a can opener, he never wants to replace anything with the newest technology. So, was I surprised when he thought that it was a good idea to get a new TV...television, not tow vehicle. So, off to Walmart we go and get a new 47 inch LCD television. So, here we sit watching the first UK BASKETBALL game of the season on a 47 inch LCD television........now I know! Never mind the fact that I have had to watch most of the UT FOOTBALL season on an old TV! Well, at least I can watch the remainder of the games in style................GO VOLS!

Ho! Ho! Ho!

I am making a real effort to get my Christmas shopping done early this year. If I do it will be the first time. I am usually out at the last minute picking out things from the remains of what is left. So, today I took a vacation day and went to Lexington to get started. I was at the stores before most were open (I am an early riser). So, I had the trunk of my car full by 11:30 and then filled up the back seat. So, since I had stuff in full view in the back seat of my car, I figured that I had better just head back and not risk loosing what I had bought at the hands of someone who is too sorry to work for their "stuff" and prefer just to take what others work for everyday! So, I was back in London by 2:30. I then decided to stop and get my hair a much needed trim. Oh well, I am already feeling better about the holidays!

In-Laws Rule!

Well, the good news is that my daughter-in-law now has a full time job. She has been working part time for a while and this week started full time. It is really great to be able to get a full time job in this economy.

Now the bad news...my sweet little granddaughter, aka showbizz, has been sick. She broke out in a rash all over, was congested and running a fever off and on. She hasn't been sleeping very good. The doctor said it was an allergic reaction. I worry so much about them, it is hard to be so far away from them when they are sick....or anytime for that matter.

And the other bad news is that Aaron got choked on a piece of candy while he was trick or treating. Fortunately, Robert had a class in CPR for children and was able to get the candy dislodged. Paramedics were called and checked Aaron out to make sure that he was ok. I'm sure it was very scary and I am sure glad that Robert was able to take care of the situation. Good job son-in-law!

Whirlwind

I just spent 24 hours at my parents' house. As usual it was a whirlwind of cooking and cleaning. I tried to cook enough to feed them for several days, but they don't tend to eat unless you put it in front of them. I colored mothers hair and fixed it. I took them to Church last night. They really like going to Church, but seldom make it. They can never figure out what time it starts, etc...Alzheimers and Dementia are such horrible illnesses.
