I recieved the most wonderful early birthday present yesterday from my Uncle Wallace. He is my mother's middle brother and lives in Indiana! From the time I was born until I was 6 they lived in Harlan Co. and his daughter, Diane, was my older cousin and best friend. I was totally shocked to go to the post office yesterday and in the mail was a DVD of his old family movies from the 50's and 60's. Needless to say, I couldn't wait to get home from work and watch the DVD.
Well, do you remember the scene in National Lampoon Christmas Vacation with Clark Griswald sitting in the attic watching old home movies and crying....well, that was me last night (except I wasn't dressed up in old clothes).
The first time that I watched it, I couldn't see much for crying. It was so wonderful to see pictures of my mom and dad having a snow ball fight with me...all happy and laughing.....so I watched it several more times without tears and enjoyed it so much. I tried to take some still photos from it; but the quality is too poor.
But, needless to say, I appreciate it more than words can say.
Wow, I bet that really was a cherished gift. Is the second picture you? If it is, that is the spitting image of Paige. I always thought she looked a lot like Gene, but if that pic is you, I have been wrong. She is your Mini-Me.

Yeah, the second picture is me. There were some of me at about 4 yrs old, but i couldn't pause the picture without distorting it. It was so sweet of my Uncle to send me the video. He is older than my mother, but his mind is so sharp.
